Kibou Solihull Japanese Kitchen & Bar

Solihull,

KIBOU is a Japanese Restaurant, ramen & sushi bar in Solihull, Clifton Bristol, Cheltenham & London.

Q&A Interior Designers were commissioned to design the new KIBOU Solihull site after successfully designing and managing their KIBOU Cheltenham Restaurant & Kibou Clifton Restaurant.

Arranged over a single floor of a Grade 2 Listed building, the 60 cover restaurant occupied a prominent site in Solihull's traditional old town high street.

The facade welcomes you with vibrant yellow Japanese maple adorning the facia with external seating in the colours of a Japanese forest.

On entry you are welcomed by a large fire place filled with blue light where the glowing reflections of the fire play across the high gloss floor cobbles.

A feathered timber wainscot with mosaic tiles straddles an animated projection of a traditional Japanese boat scene juxtaposed against a back drop of Modern Toyko. The neon effect Japanese sign and high gloass ceilings evoke the nostalgic night life of Tokyo's backstreets.

KIBOU Solihull is enriched with Japanese wall illustrations and an animated projection running the full length of the Sushi Bar which can also be glimsed from the entrance directly through the back bar display.

Bespoke furniture is adorned with Japanese fabrics. Decadent glass pendants and walnut whisky & sake displays evoke a golden age of times passed.

We were recommended Q&A because they had designed quite a few Japanese restaurants in the past.

Although clearly the brief was completely different for these venues, they interpreted our design requirement for an informal restaurant that combined seamlessly with a smart cocktail / drinking atmosphere.
